This assignment will require you to identify the behaviors and thoughts associated with DSM-5 criteria for specific disorders discussed in class and use this information to support your primary diagnosis. You must align specific DSM-5 criteria to the behaviors/cognitions displayed by the individual in order to demonstrate why the individual should be diagnosed with that disorder. DSM-5 criteria for each disorder can be found on the PowerPoint slides in their respective chapters. Additionally, you will need to identify two alternative diagnoses that share common features with the individual in the case study but, ultimately, do not best fit the narrative. For these, you will state why (as a clinician) you might consider these alternative diagnoses based on DSM-5 criteria that align with the case and also why you would eventually rule them out (i.e., why the description doesn’t fully fit the alternative diagnoses’ criteria). -This paper needs only be long enough to sufficiently support your official diagnosis and rule out your alternative diagnoses (no more than 3 pages double spaced) and should be double-spaced, 12-point Times New Roman font with 1” margins. Papers will be graded for completion and on their correctness of diagnosis, support for their arguments, clarity of thought, organization, grammar, and spelling.
